Orange iPhone 3G and 3G S deal announced

There have been rumours for a while now, but this morning it became official that O2 has lost its exclusivity deal to sell the iPhone with news that Orange will also be selling Apple’s handset before the year is out.
It had previously been suggested that Orange would just be selling the 3G, and that O2 would retain exclusivity on the 3G S. However, Orange has confirmed it will be selling both handsets later this year. Continue reading…

It’s been rumoured, and now sources have apparently confirmed that the Nintendo Wii is definitely set to get a price cut, as well as some extra goodies in the box.

MCV is reporting it has had it confirmed that the trade price for the popular Nintendo console will drop back to an RRP of £179.99, the original price of the console before its rather annoying price increase to £199.99 earlier this year. Continue reading…

Dell to buy Perot Systems for $3.9 billion

Computer maker Dell will acquire information-technology company Perot Systems for $3.9 billion in cash, as the PC giant looks to expand beyond its core hardware business, the companies said Monday.

The move marks a strategic shift for Dell, which has stuck with its personal computer and server sales even as its rivals like Hewlett-Packard (HP) and IBM (IBM, Fortune 500) continue to diversify amid slumping hardware sales.

“We’ve seen this coming, but I’m surprised it took as long as it did,” said Gartner analyst John Enck. “This path is a necessary ingredient to future success, which being a hardware-only provider would have limited.” Continue reading…

We’ve seen price cuts from both Xbox 360 and PS3, and so it’s only right whispers should start about a price drop for Nintendo’s Wii – especially when it’s rumoured to have come straight from Ninty HQ.
