Archos 2 Vision MP3 player makes a quiet debut

archos_3_vision_pmp_1-321x480

Following on from the Archos 2 which made its UK debut in May this year, the new Archos 2 Vision has made a rather subtle entry to the market after showing up on a UK e-tailer’s website.

With a similar 1.8-inch screen to its predecessor, the credit card-sized MP3 player replaces hard buttons with a touch scroller for moving through the menus, and for volume control. Continue reading…

How to transfer music from your iPod to iTunes/your computer

How to transfer music from your iPod to iTunes/your computer

Basically, in order to transfer songs from the iPod to your computer, you have to undermine the design of the iPod.  Whenever you use a device in a way it’s not designed, you increase the chances that it’ll break.  That said, a lot of people have done this with no problems and it’s a real life saver if your computer crashed and you lost your whole iTunes music library.

1. First you need to connect the iPod without iTunes doing the auto-sync.

  • Hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys while connecting the iPod to your computer.
  • Don’t let go of Shift+Ctrl.
  • If iTunes doesn’t open automatically open after connecting the iPod, open iTunes.
  • Don’t let go of Shift+Ctrl.
  • Wait until the iPod comes up in the Source list under DEVICES (it may take a while, butdon’t let go of Shift+Ctrl)

MetatOGGer Automatically Identifies, Tags Your MP3s and More

Free application MetatOGGer is an advanced MP3 (and OGG Vorbis, FLAC, Speex, Musepack, Windows Media, WavPack, and Monkey’s Audio) tag editor that can automatically tag your music by creating audio fingerprints and comparing them with online database, MusicBrainz.

504x_metatogger

And while MusicBrainz already has its own dedicated application for this, we’ve always found Picard to be a little clunky. MetatOGGer, on the other hand, seems quite a bit more user friendly. Likewise, MetatOGGer can automatically search out and add lyrics to your tags from web site LyricWiki.

MetatOGGer is freeware, Windows only, requires .NET 3.5 SP1. If you give it a try, let’s hear how it worked for you in the comments.

KEF Concept Blade:Its Hot

KEF Concept Blade:Its Hot

KEF-Concept-BladeWesley Snipes wouldn’t need to be convinced to use this device to slice vampires in half but the Concept Blade is aimed more at the aging millionaire with a penchant for slicing bad recordings in two. Using KEF’s latest iteration of the renowned Uni-Q midrange/tweeter driver and two pairs of 10 inch force-cancelling bass units, this will soon crown KEFs three-year long research program. Made from a composite of Balsa wood core with a carbon fibre outer layer, the entire enclosure remains inert and resonance free despite of all the low frequency-induced forces at work inside it. All the bass drivers are mounted around the Uni-Q driver, creating a single apparent source of sound, the holy grail that every speaker designer tries to achieve. Now, you can drop the reservations for the next Zubin Mehta concert and just buy the CD instead.

Genius BT-03li: Just slide
Genius BT 03li

Genius BT 03li

Stereo Bluetooth headsets are becoming the new thing to have, especially if you’re always on the move. The Genius BT-03li is one such stereo Bluetooth headset and that too with touch sensitive buttons and a very unique design.

The BT-o3li is a street style or neck band style of a headset, though  it may look similar to standard headphones that rest on the head. There are rubber straps over each side of the  headphone which are supposed to hook onto your ear. The earpads themselves are on the smaller side and we did not find them very comfortable. The touch buttons are located on the left side, while the mini USB port (for charging) and the power switch is on the right side. To adjust the volume, slide your finger in a circular manner. Tap the center area to accept and end calls. The touch buttons respond well. One feature we didn’t like is the way it lights up each time the buttons are touched; there is really no point in this.

The sound quality of this headset is decent. Although the BT-03li reproduces decent bass, it lacks in mids and highs. Call quality was above average as we could hear the person speak, but the microphone wasn’t able to pick up everything that was being said clearly. Pairing this device was simple and wasn’t an issue.

Creative Gigaworks T3

Creative Gigaworks T3

No kidding, you’ll stare in fascination at this 2.1 channel system. Barring the Razer Mako, it;s the sleekest audible thing to grace your rack. The satellites feature attached stands, are bomb-proof and stable. Employing full-range 2 inch drivers, they’re incredibly diminutive in size, so fitting them into tight nooks is hardly an issue. The compact subwoofer is also deceptively powerful. It doesn’t have a portable, but harnessing Creative SLAMtech, the sub actually houses three 6.5 inch drivers, making it a force to be reckoned with. The final component of the set is the control pod. It adjusts the volume, and sports a line in/out. The entire upper half of the pod turns to the left shuts the system off. Audio quality is expectedly great. The satellites offer clear mids and highs and the dynamic ability of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. For newbies, this means that the soft sounds remain soft and the louder parts  ,loud. The parthole-less subwoofer has mesmerising bass. It’s tighter than a pair of leather pants on Carmen Electra and offers more thump than an Enfield Bullet! There’s a discrete bass knob at the rear of the sub in case you want to adjust the level. Overall, there’s great spatial imaging, excellent sound reproduction and heart pounding bass. In one word, It’s immaculate.

Details:-

  • Audio centric: The remote houses a volume dial, aux in and headphones out
  • Green Sound: Energy Star certification means that this system is power efficient
  • Standees Only: The two satellites have integrated stands that offer good stability Continue reading…

JBL Radial iPod Dock: Great Design, Great Performance, Great Pricing
JBL Radial Dock

JBL Radial Dock

The Radial is such an explosively designed speaker, it’ll make every other extant dock pale in comparison. It looks similar to the Star gate time machine and yet it’s essentially an upright version of JBL’s On Stage series of iPod speakers. At any rate, it’s a heck of a looker. The ladies will practically swoon when you invite them over to your pad for a night of unbridled audio tutoring. Operating the Radial is a piece of cake. The front of the system incorporates two discreet volume controls. There’s a tiny LED on the inner surface at the top that glows blue when the dock is on. The rear houses a multitude of connectors such as USB and line in, S-video out and the power switch. The remote’s a nifty little thing too.Since it works on  , you won’t need to point it in the dock’s direction. You can actually use it from another room. It also offers rubber shoe pads to keep it from slipping. Compatibility-wise, the Radial doesn’t officially support the iPhone, so keep that in mind if you own one. However, in tests, it interfaced with the iPhone and played music without a hitch.

The Radial completely satisfies in the sonic department. Play Take Five by Dave Brubeck and it’ll fill a medium-sized room with rich and well-defined sound. Given its compact proportions, it’s surprising how vast the dock’s soundstage is.  there’s also enough bass to move a glass of water off the shelf onto an unsuspecting mutt sleeping below. Simply put, it’s the best-looking and best-sounding iPod dock to grace your pad.

Details:-

Creative Fatal1TY

Creative-FATAL1TY

This gaming headset provides optimum comfort so that you would have no problem to wear it hour long gaming session. The FATAL1TY is the typical head-the-head style headphone with a cup design for the earpiece. The design is really comfortable to wear; each cup and the headband has a thick padding that does a good job of cushioning the ear and protecting the top of your head from the hard plastic feel. A detachable microphone is bundled, which itself is a nice piece of hardware. The Headset’s wire is preety long and it has a built in control to adjust the headset’s volume and a switch to toggle the microphone’s current status.

On the performance front, the quality is really very good while gaming. The gun/explosion noise, instructions, and turns with every effect are very detailed and really top notch. The bass and treble effects are good on the mid’s but average on the high’s. There are some distortion and scratches on the high’s while playing music but the result is the opposite on the gaming front. Altogether you will not be  happy with FATAL1TY’s performance on the music front but these are really negligible factors as this headset has been designed especially for gamers. The detachable microphone has noise cancellation capability and performs pretty well in multiplayer games. Overall, this is for the serious gamers and not for music enthusiasts.
